About Course
The ability to time, phase and pace rehabilitation is a key skill for any MSK or orthopaedic physiotherapist. Making the correct decisions on when to progress rehab, what timeframes of healing to adhere to, as well as what functional requirements to emphasise is key to fully restoring function in your patients.
In this 5-hour online course, the phasing and pacing of rehabilitation will be outlined and described in great detail, using underlying theoretical models and practical case-based examples.
Course outline:
Module 1: An Introduction to the Phasing and Pacing of Rehabilitation
- What guides the pacing of rehabilitation?
- What happens when injury occurs at a tissue level?
- What happens when injury occurs at a functional level?
- Why the need to pace and phase rehabilitation?
- The general rehab emphasis by phase
- A brief summary of how to phase and pace rehabilitation
Module 2: Phasing and Pacing of Rehabilitation for Acute Injury
- Mild acute injury: tissue and functional consequence; pacing timeframes; phasing guidelines
- Moderate acute injury: tissue and functional consequence; pacing timeframes; phasing guidelines
- Severe acute injury: tissue and functional consequence; pacing timeframes; phasing guidelines
- Practical case-study example
Module 3: Phasing and Pacing of Rehabilitation for Overuse Injury
