Rheumatic and joint conditions are commonly encountered in clinical practice, yet effective management requires clinicians to recognise different clinical presentations, understand the underlying pathology and distinguish between conditions that require different approaches to assessment and management.

The Rheumatology Series provides clinicians with an evidence-based framework for understanding, assessing and managing common rheumatological presentations encountered in physiotherapy practice. The series covers osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthropathies and spondyloarthropathies, with attention to pathophysiology, clinical presentation, assessment, clinical reasoning and evidence-based management.

Emphasis is placed on practical clinical application, equipping clinicians with the knowledge and skills to recognise different presentations, develop appropriate management strategies and identify when further medical or multidisciplinary assessment may be required.
